Criteria of quality of essential oils by Abiessence
The application of essential oils may have extraordinary results in various realms, provided that certain criteria of quality are met.
- The manner of cultivation
The raw material Abiessence uses, is either wild plants or plants cultivated without chemicals, 100 % pure and natural.
In order to preserve the species and yield a crop of quality year after year, the plants are all reaped by hand.

- The label AB, a guarantee for quality…
Essential oils do contain active ingredients of herbs in a very concentrated form. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to claim an optimal quality, such as is defined by the label AB.
The production of essential oils by Abiessence is controlled by ECOCERT (accredited organization). What is being controlled is the cultivation, the harvest, the distillation, the conditioning…).
- The harvest
The opportune moment of harvest is very important. It is all about paying attention to the advancement of the florescence and the maturity of the plant in order to obtain an essential oil of maximum characteristic and total effectiveness.
- The extraction
The essential oils by Abiessence are obtained by steam distillation of very low pressure in a stainless steel water quench apparatus that neither changes their characteristics nor their constitution. This guarantees exceptional chemical and organoleptic characteristics (flavour, colour, scent).
This mode of extraction requires a constant supervision: in order to obtain a product of quality, it is important to consider that the time of distillation is different for every plant.
- The identity card for essential oils
Certain indispensible nominations provide the origin and exact nature of essential oils :
- The latin name that specifies the botanical class
- The origin of the plant that indicates a special chemical particularity
- The organ of secretion: according to the distilled part of the plant, quite different aromatic substances are obtained as to their therapeutic properties, their composition and their scent.
- The chemotype: it is the chemical type. It is important to define an essential oil. Depending on the insolation, the composition of the soil as well as the age of the plant, the majority molecule differs from one plant to the other…
The chemotype allows to recognize essential oils originating from a same botanic variety but with a different biochemical composition.
